Knowing your family’s safety and how important it is… I hope my blog will come in handy to every man, woman and child. Because we are living in a country where crime has become a huge factor and concern in our lives. Unfortunately, the SAP and security industries are fighting a losing battle. For those who follow my blog I want to share my knowledge with you.

Has anyone heard the saying safety begins at home first?

Well that is not completely true, allow me to elaborate. A few years ago I was fortunate to attend a seminar given by an American security specialist. What I learnt is astounding, let me ask you a question. How many of you know what is going on in your neighbourhood, street or on your pavement outside your home? There is a huge reason why and at the end of this topic you will see the importance of it. I will provide photos to illustrate the importance of it.

I had done some of my own research to see if there is any truth to what the American security specialist said. 85% of home owners don’t know what is going on, on their pavement or side walk. Sometimes after attending the seminar I approached a home in Klerksdorp and this home had walls built around it. I started a conversation with the home owner that happened to be a woman, about a beautiful pot plant that was standing on her pavement? Keep in mind there wasn’t one. But I asked her if she can tell me where she bought it and how much she paid? Very proudly she answered and gave me all the information on something that doesn’t exist. This is something very real and as my blog continues I will elaborate the importance of being more aware of what is going on around and outside your home.

Is there a point to all of this? Well there is, but here is a fact. In order to secure your home ,you need to start outside your home first, take time to familiarise your pavement look out for objects that has been placed on your pavement. Stones in a straight line, the amount of stones represent the amount of people or family members residing in your home. If there is a white stone the colour white indicates an easy target. Should the stones be pointing to your home it indicates that you or a family member is at home? Should you find stones packed on top of each other that indicate a big dog is present. Packets in your fence again should it be white it means a easy target cold drink bottles ,cans, sticks. I urge you look out for anything that shouldn’t be on your pavement. If you have found or noticed things like this on your pavement that is a sign that your property has been targeted.
