The Roar and I AM

Good morning, brothers. Here we are, waking up as fathers on Father’s Day – some of us young dads still finding our way, others older with grown children or grandchildren. Some are soon-to-be fathers, carrying both anticipation and fear. And then there are men who may never have become fathers, yet carry the same weight, the same questions, and the same daily struggles as all of us.

Today, we’re not just speaking to a role – we’re speaking into the heart of every man. Because what we face is deeper than a title. And what we need is greater than a moment of celebration. Let’s jump into this blog as we go to 1 Peter 5:8, satan walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

My brothers, that is not the Lion my blog is written about. The enemy prowls, mimicking strength with a roar designed to stir fear and confusion. But I want you to focus on the word “Noise” (roar meaning noise) – the roar of the enemy is not a roar that is a sign of power, but just noise. Noise that seeks to distract, to unsettle, to drown out truth. Yet, amidst the clamour, there is a voice that stands apart – one that does not Roar to intimidate, but speaks with authority to bring peace.

Now, as you have that word “noise” in your mind, I want to point out that Jesus comes and says, “Be still and know that

I AM, Elohim = God the Creator: Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

I AM Yahweh = The Self-Existent One: Exodus 3:14-15 “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.’ God also said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites: The Lord, the God of your fathers – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob – has sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.'”

I AM El Roi = The God who sees you: Genesis 16:13-14 “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’ That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.”

I AM El Shaddai = The All-Sufficient One: Genesis 17:1-2 “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.'”

I AM El Olam = No beginning and no end: the Everlasting God, Genesis 21:32-33 “Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba. So Abimelech rose with Phichol, the commander of his army, and they returned to the land of the Philistines. Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.”

I AM Yahweh Yireh = The Lord will provide: Genesis 22:13-14 “Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, ‘On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.'”

I AM Adonai = Lord and Master: Psalm 16:2 “I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.'”

I AM Yahweh Rapha = The Lord who heals: Exodus 15:26 “He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.'”

I AM Yahweh Nissi = The Lord is my Banner: Exodus 17:15 “Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.”

I AM El Kanna = Consuming fire, jealous God: Exodus 34:14 “Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”

I AM Yahweh Shalom = The Lord is peace, Judges: 6:22-24 “When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, ‘Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!’ But the Lord said to him, ‘Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.’ So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace.”

I AM Qedosh Yisrael = Holy One of Israel, Leviticus: 19:1-2 “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.'”

I AM Yahweh Tsuri = The Lord is my Rock: Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

I AM Yahweh Roi = The Lord my Shepherd: Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

I AM El Elyon = God Most High: Psalm 7:17 “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.”

I AM Yahweh Shammah = The Lord is There: Ezekiel 48:35 “And the name of the city from that time on will be: The Lord is There.”

I AM Miqweh Yisrael = Hope of Israel: Psalm 71:5 “For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.”

I AM Magen = The Lord is my shield and my protector: Psalm 3:3 “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”

I AM Migdal-Oz = My strong tower: Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

I AM Atik Yomin = Ancient of Days: Daniel 7:9 “As I looked, ‘thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.'”

My child, I need you to be still. Do not fear the roar. “Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”1 Peter 5:8

It does not matter how great the mountain may seem that you are facing, for I AM greater. “For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.Isaiah 54:10

Do not fear the giant that you feel is destroying your life, for I AM stronger. “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”2 Chronicles 20:15

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.”Psalm 28:7

Are you lost in a life of lies? I AM the truth. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”John 8:32

My child, do you feel lost? Do not fear, for I AM the way. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”John 14:6

I AM the God who has come to give you life. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”John 10:10

I AM the God that has come to give you life.

Even when it feels like I AM not working for your good, “Do not weep! Revelation 5:5

I need for you to know who I AM.

I AM The LION of Judah.

Father God, Lion of Judah, the Great I AM, we come before You today, not as perfect men, but as sons needing their Father – Their Warrior, their Defender, their Truth.

Lord, the enemy roars around us. He taunts us with fear, with shame, with lies, but today – we turn our ears away from the noise, and we fix our eyes on You. You are Elohim, our Creator. You are El Shaddai, our sufficiency.

You are Yahweh Nissi, our banner in battle. You are Adonai, our Lord and our Master. You are El Sali, our strength. You are not silent, You are not distant. You are I AM – yesterday, today, and forever. Teach us to be still, to know, and to trust.

Let Your roar echo louder in our spirits than any lie the enemy speaks. Remind us that the ground we stand on belongs to You, and that we are not fighting for victory, but from it.

Lord, silence every false roar. Break every chain of fear. Remind every man reading this that his identity is not found in failure, fear, or weakness – But in You, the unshakable, unstoppable, ever-present I AM.

In Jesus’ powerful name we pray, Amen.
